Ethics - make it mandatory

All students should be required to take at least one course in ethics, even if taking the course means a decreased emphasis on academic subjects.This has been a thought that academicians have pondered.The result is that an environmental ethics paper is introduced in engineering streams.But how is it perceived in the eyes of students!For them it is just an easy subject which they dont have to necessarily put much effort to get their marks.The students term it "ONE subject down" .Do they understand the reason why it was introduced.? Our mother earth is getting destroyed at faster rate and our resources need to be preserved for the future generations.It is to bring this sense of awareness that this subject was introduced.Lets try to see the purpose behind this introduction and make the world a better place to live in.
